Ulex europaeus, commonly known as Gorse, is a striking, evergreen shrub renowned for its vibrant golden-yellow pea-like flowers and spiny, dark green foliage. This hardy plant blooms from late winter to early summer, with a delightful coconut-like fragrance that attracts bees and pollinators. It can grow to an ultimate height of around 1.5 metres with a similar spread if given the room. Ulex europaeus likes well drained soil, and is happy in both exposed sunny spots as well as sheltered areas.

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Once established, it requires very little care. Ideal for wild gardens, hedgerows, coastal planting, or as a tough barrier shrub. Pairs well with heathers and other native species for naturalistic landscapes.

Supplied in approx. 1.5 litre containers.
