Elaeagnus x ebbingei 'Gilt Edge' - Silverthorn

Product ref: S24668

Availability: In stock

Silverthorn is a much loved shrub for hedging, providing a dense and compact screen whilst also still giving your garden unique variegated colour and reddish stems. An evergreen shrub, ‘Gilt Edge’ bears small dark-green ovate leaves with irregular golden-yellow coloured margins. This shrub also displays silvery-cream flowers borne on silver buds in October which, whilst inconspicuous, fill the evening air with a lovely sweet scent. The bright glossy foliage is said to catch the light, hence the name ‘Gilt Edge’ and subsequently makes this shrub the perfect structural plant with continuous colour and a reliable dense habit. Both salt and drought tolerant, this silverthorn is well suited to coastal, sandy soils and will remain healthy in our now heat wave streaked summers.

Place in any soil as long as it is well-drained and make sure it is in either full sun or partial shade. Fully hardy it is able to thrive in exposed or sheltered areas.

Supplied in approx. 3 litre containers.
