Sorbus vilmorinii, or Vilmorin's Rowan, is an elegant, small ornamental tree that adds soft elegance and subtle charm to any garden. In late spring, it produces airy clusters of creamy-white blooms, followed by delicate, fern-like leaves that turns pink, crimson and bronze in the autumn. Its most distinctive characteristic is clusters of pale pink berries that fade to white as they mature—an rare and eye-catching treat for both gardeners and birds.
Vilmorin's Rowan thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and prefers full sun to moderate shade, making it excellent for small gardens or informal woodland planting. It's resilient, simple to grow, and takes little care—just mild pruning in the winter to remove any broken or crossing branches. Pair with Sorbus or Amelanchier for a soft, naturalistic look with extended seasonal colour and wildlife appeal.
