Sinojackia xylocarpa - Weeping Jack Tree
Availability: In stock
This deciduous shrub or small, spreading tree is the perfect plant to give your garden bright Spring colour! A very unique specimen, the Weeping Jack Tree displays clusters of white, star-shaped Spring flowers which can be up to 2.5cm in size and are then followed by rare egg-shaped, woody fruits. This plant has an ultimate height and spread between 4-8 metres and can be pruned to remain a small-medium sized shrub. The dark green, oval, toothed leaves appear in Spring and remain all the way through till autumn where they turn beautiful shades of yellow before they fall. Sinojackia’s rare fruits make it a great specimen plant either in the ground or a container, and it also works well in mixed border planting.Â
Â
Plant in full sun or partial shade and moist but well-drained soils. This shrub is only half hardy so should be sheltered from harsh winds. An acid lover, the Weeping Jack tree prefers ericaceous soil.Â
