Sambucus Black Tower - Black Leaf Towering Elder

If you love dark foliage but have limited space then this tall slender deciduous Elder - Sambucus nigra f. porphyrophylla 'Black Tower' to give it its full name - is the perfect choice.
With a dense and compact upright habit, Black Tower Sambucus is ideal for smaller gardens and narrow borders or as a solitary specimen. The large leaves emerge green but readily change to deep burgundy in no time at all, for the best colour, grow in full sun.
Stems are crowned with flattened heads of fragrant pink, lightly perfumed flowers that really complement the dark foliage making even more of a statement than the leaves alone. Later on in the season, you'll also be rewarded with masses of glossy black elderberries - traditionally used is preserves and home made beverages.
Very easy to grow, Black Tower will make a fantastic feature in even the smallest garden reaching a total height of around 2.5m (8ft) with a wide of around 100-120cm (3-4ft) in time.
Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
