Cytisus Boskoop Ruby - Broom

Cytisus 'Boskoop Ruby' is a deciduous broom that brings a splash of colour to the garden in late spring. Its arching green stems are smothered with masses of small, pea-like flowers in rich ruby-red, occasionally tinged with purple, creating a fiery and dramatic effect. With its fine, almost wispy foliage and upright, bushy habit, this variety adds structure and movement to borders, gravel gardens, or slopes, particularly in sunny, open spaces.

This variety is both hardy and highly drought-tolerant once established, thriving best in poor, well-drained soil and full sun. It's particularly well-suited to low-maintenance, Mediterranean-style or coastal gardens, where it performs reliably with minimal care. After flowering, a light trim helps maintain its shape and encourages healthy, bushy growth for the following season.
