PRE-ORDER: Rosa Canina - Dog Rose - Bare Root Hedging 60-80cm - Pack of 25
Availability: In stock
Commonly known as Dog Rose, each bare root hedging plant will stand 60-80cm tall and comes in a pack of 25. This wild rose is known for its simple and beautiful pale pink to white flowers, blooming from May to July in gardens, with added fragrance for attraction to bees and other pollinators. After flowering, shiny attractive red rose hips are produced in plenty by plants in autumn, very important in providing food to birds. It is of use for humans too, as it can prepare rose hip tea or syrup from them.

Dog Rose is hardy from a very wide range of conditions—well-drained soil being the norm, but it can grow in full sun or partial shade. It, therefore, makes an ideal plant in addition to the wild, natural look to any border of a garden or, indeed, to form a dense hedge friendly to wildlife due to its fast-growing nature. Plant your Dog Rose hedging in fertile, well-drained soil; water well during the first growing season to establish a good root system. They also need to be pruned minimally to deadwood and over-vigorous branches in late winter to maintain the shape and allow new growth.
