PRE-ORDER: Prunus Cerasifera - Cherry Plum - Bare Root Hedging 60-80cm - Pack of 12
Availability: In stock
One of our collections, Prunus cerasifera, has the common name Cherry Plum and contains bare-rooted hedging plants growing to a height range of 60-80cm, in a pack of 12. It blooms in early spring, and one of the best characteristics is its display of white to pale pink flowers before the leaves appear, thus giving another aspect of one of the first signs of spring and providing important early nectar for pollinators.
Â
In addition, the Cherry Plum is an ornamental favourite not only because it is admired for its beauty but also because it is one of the fastest-growing and best-adapted plants to most soil types and conditions, from full sun to partial shade. Its small, plum-like fruits mature in late summer, offering an additional splash of colour and food supply to wildlife. Place the cherry plum in fertile, well-drained soil so that it can grow well. Water the tree to its saturation point in the first growing season to enable it to set up a vigorous root system. Although relatively low maintenance, you can lightly prune it in summer to keep it in desired shape and encourage vigorous, healthy new growth.
