Premium Speciality Chefs Selection for the Fruit Connoisseur - Fruit Tree Collection - Pack of SIX
Availability: Out of stock
Here we have a very limited number of something special - we call it the Connoisseur collection, because that's exactly what it is. All of the fruits here offer something unique or special to eat straight from the tree of as a result of talents from the kitchen - with these trees you'll be growing gorgeous tasty fruits that you would only usually perhaps find at higher class selected greengrocers. These aren't going to be your regular bag of supermarket Apples.
The trees can be grown in the garden or will also thrive in patio planters. They can easily be kept compact with pruning if space is limited. These special trees are delivered at around 140cms (5ft) tall, all you need to do is plant them, and watch them quickly grow into 6-7ft tall heavy croppers, giving a high yield of easily accessible fruit, without any need for ladders or climbing at picking time. All of our fruit trees should be producing well within a season or two, if not the year of planting.
Unlike many varieties on the market, you do not need to buy extra trees later on to pollinate the flowers and make the fruit, because these have been specially selected as self and cross pollinating varieties. They only need a small sunny space to thrive in your garden, or of course on the patio in large planters, even on a balcony! Your Collection is made up of the following varieties:
Red Favourite Pear
This is said to be a sport of the better known Williams Pear, producing juicy medium sized fruits with unusual red skin. The creamy-white flesh is melting and juicy with a fine texture, it is a heavy cropping and reliable tree.
Bosc Pear
Known as the aristocrat of pears, this is perfect fresh or for poaching, producing fruit with a long tapering neck and russet skin. Famous for its warm cinnamon colour, the Bosc pear or Beurre Bosc as it is also known, is often used in drawings, paintings, and photography due to its shape. Its white flesh is denser, crisper and smoother than many varieties. It's origin is unclear, but thought to be Belgium or France.
Oullins Gage Plum
A large, yellow fruit with dense, quite transparent flesh and the refined, fruity sweetness, a little less juicy than other gages and plums, which makes them well suited for storage in the freezer or for bottling. The quality and versatility of the fruit really do make this one for the connoisseur. It was originally discovered by chance in a French orchard.
Apri-Plum Flavour Queen
Also known as the Pluot, these are an amazing, juicy, flavourful extra large dark skinned red fleshed delicious plum fruit - bred by crossing an Apricot with a Plum!
Red Love Apple
Redlove is an unusual Swiss variety that boasts long-lasting and unusual deep pink blossom, and unique fruit that is dark red, both outside and inside, revealing a beautiful pattern when you slice through it. The juicy, fragrant flesh has a texture that can be likened to a Cox, but with an extra range of subtle cherry fruit flavours. A delicious eater, it is also ideal for cooking, retaining the red colour.
Pinova Apple
An apple of German origin with both Cox and Golden delicious in its parentage with excellent flavour. Fruits store well and hang on the tree late in to the season, eat fresh or use in delicious pies and crumbles.
High quality bare rooted tree stocks - as used by commercial growers. Delivered in Winter and throughout Spring, this is the best planting time for these, so they can quickly grow away in the Spring time as temperatures rise.Â
