Portulaca umbraticola - Purslane - Flowering Succulent Plant

Product ref: PP20239

Availability: Out of stock

Portulaca is commonly known as purslane or moss rose with the stems and leaves often grown as a vegetable in some parts of the world, but we also grow it for it's ornamental qualities.

A spreading succulent ground cover,  individual plants produce 3-5cm diametre flowers in masses of a single colour, from across a range of bright shades including orange, yellow, red, pink, white and bicolours. Thriving in a sunny spot, it will bloom until the first hardy frosts of winter, and often reappears the following season from self-sown seedlings. A lovely plant to have for difficult dry and poor soils where it can perform well once it gets a foot hold. To recreate the effect depicted, we recommend planting a group of plants togther for a mult-coloured carpeting effect.

Supplied in approx 10-12cm pots.
