A beautiful houseplant, Philodendron 'Black Cardinal' is distinguished by its glossy, dark foliage that starts off deep burgundy and eventually turns almost black. This compact, slow-growing plant is ideal for bringing a little drama and elegance into any interior setting. Enthusiasts of indoor plants love it for its lush, tropical vibe, which is created by its broad, heart-shaped leaves.

It can withstand lower light levels, but for best growth, place it in bright, indirect light. Plant in peat-based soil that drains well. In order to avoid root rot, water when the top inch of soil feels dry. To replicate its tropical habitat, keep the humidity high and occasionally mist the leaves. For a lovely, leafy indoor display, pair with ferns or additional philodendron varieties. Ceramic pot featured in the image is not included.
