Phillyrea latifolia

Phillyrea latifolia, also known as the Green Olive Tree, is a robust and hardy evergreen shrub or small tree that brings structure and elegance to any garden. It features glossy, dark green, leathery leaves that retain their rich colour throughout the year. In spring, it produces clusters of small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers, which are followed by small, dark, olive-like fruits. Its dense, bushy habit makes it an excellent choice for hedging, screening, or as a specimen plant.

This low-maintenance shrub thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and prefers a sunny or partially shaded position. Drought-tolerant once established, it requires minimal pruning, just enough to maintain shape. Pair with other Mediterranean plants like Lavender, Rosemary, or Oleander for a stylish, drought-resistant landscape.
