Papaver Bonfire

Product ref: P26034

Availability: Out of stock

Papaver 'Bonfire' is a perennial poppy cultivar with flowers of huge size and silky petals that radiate a red bonfire in the garden. Sharp shows of colour from the flowers begin in early to mid-summer and continue through the fall season.

The 'Bonfire' poppy adds quite an impact to the top of very strong stems, an ideal booster for added oomph in garden border heights or planted as a statement centrepiece in a mixed bed.

The petals and the florets of the disk are black-tinged dark red, contrasting with the hint. There is a head constituting disc florets, which form the heart surrounded by involucral bracts.

Thriving in full sun, Papaver 'Bonfire' reaches its best potential in well-draining soil and is highly tolerant of drought once it has been established. This is a poppy that works best in drifts: a great sea of red that can flex and sway with the air.

Supplied in approx. 1 litre nursery pots.
