Nandina domestica 'Red Light' - Heavenly Bamboo

Commonly known as Heavenly Bamboo this bushy upright evergreen shrub will brighten up your garden all year round and provide you with stunningly unique foliage. ‘Red Light’ has delicate lanceolate leaves which emerge a light reddish-pink and then deepen in colour through summer to a deep red. They then turn fiery shades of red throughout autumn and winter. Older leaves gradually turn green providing a beautiful contrast to the young growth and all leaves are variegated with streaks of white. It also bears small star shaped white flowers on conical panicles during mid-summer. This small shrub grows up to half a meter in height and spread and is the perfect plant to add continuous colour to a mixed border or within patio container planting.

This shrub can establish within any soil type and pH but does prefer moist but well-drained soil. Make sure to plant this heavenly bamboo in full sun or partial shade so that you will encourage that vibrant leaf colour and make sure it is protected from cold winds.
