Mentha aquatica - Water Mint
Availability: Out of stock
A highly successful native plant that really does belong in any garden that contains a pond or bog area.
Despite its delicate appearance the water Mint is a tough perennial that forms clumps of spreading herbaceous stems. The leaves are typical of mint, being light green, ovate and aromatic to the touch, they grow from reddish hairy stems and can be used to flavour dishes and drinks. From summer through until the autumn globose lilac coloured flowers are born in clusters at the apex of its many stems, these stems will easily layer into surrounding soil.
Water Mint is the perfect plant for a pond margin which is loved not only by gardeners but also wildlife, including Bees, Butterflies, Hoverflies and even Amphibians.
Supplied in approx. 9cm pot.
