Magnificent and relatively new, magnolia 'Stellar Ruby' is renowned for its magnificent flower show and small size. This cultivar blooms profusely in the early spring and produces enormous, fragrant flowers that have a spectacular ruby-pink shape resembling broad goblets. In stark contrast to the naked, black limbs, the blooms emerge before the foliage.
Reaching a modest height of approximately 3–4 metres, 'Stellar Ruby' is an excellent choice for small gardens or as a highlight plant in larger landscapes, making it ideal for those with limited space. It grows best on well-drained, slightly acidic soil and likes to be in a sunny to somewhat shady spot. This magnolia is extremely robust and resistant to pests and diseases, despite its exotic appearance.
