A well known, yet rare, highly sought after variety, bearing slender very dark purple buds which open dark purple-red on the outside and paler within. Flowering April to June, this is a compact variety and again suitable for smaller gardens. Supplied in approx. 3-5 litre containers, these are chunky flowering size plants.

This Magnolia requires minimal pruning. Broken or diseased branches should be removed in mid-summer. When planting, you should add plenty of ericaceous compost to the and mulch in spring time with manure and leaf mould, particularly for dryer soils.
