Acer negundo 'Kelly's gold'
Availability: In stock
This stunning deciduous tree is much loved for its vibrant colourful foliage and architectural branches. The foliage appears in spring with leaves emerging an eye-catching bright yellow which contrasts amazingly against the young red branches. As the growing season continues they mature to a mixture of yellow and green with the autumn further developing the leaves into beautiful golden shades before they drop. Further adding to the seasonal interest male plants display yellow-green, tassel-like dropping flowers in June. Whilst deciduous this tree still gives you winter interest with its delicate pale grey architectural branches. ‘Kelly’s Gold’ can be pruned hard in spring to maintain its shape or can be allowed to grow to its ultimate height of 8-12 metres. As a slow growing tree that responds well to pruning we recommend you plant this at the back of a mixed border or as a specimen plant on its own.
Â
‘Kelly’s Gold’ prefers to be planted in well-drained soil and either full sun or partial shade, we recommend full sun to take advantage of its seasonal colour. Make sure to shelter it from cold winds and provide it with lots of nutrients.Â
Supplied in approx. 3 litre containers.Â
