LARGE Cotinus Royal Purple - Smoke Bush

Cotinus 'Royal Purple', commonly known as the Smoke Bush, is a striking deciduous shrub prized for its dramatic, dark purple foliage and ethereal, smoke-like flower plumes. The rounded, velvety leaves emerge deep burgundy in spring, turning rich purple in summer before transitioning to fiery shades of red and orange in autumn. In early summer, large, airy panicles of pinkish-purple flowers appear, resembling puffs of smoke, giving the plant its signature appearance.

Ideal as a focal point in mixed borders or as a standalone specimen, 'Royal Purple' thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and full sun to partial shade. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and encourage vigorous new growth.
