Zephirine Drouhin is a highly fragranced Climbing Bourbon Rose, it is also amongst a handful of Roses that are thornless, being a climbing variety, this is a real advantage if you are looking to train some plants by hand, as scratches will be minimal.
Cherished for generations, this prized vintage climber is loved for the rich fragrance, its grace and vigor. It is also valued for being toleratant to poor soils and air pollution better than most roses, it will even bloom in partial shade. The Zephirine Drouhin rose is said to have raspberry-scented blooms that shine even in dappled light. The vibrant cerise flowers appear continuously all summer, and with the added bonus of being very fragrant, the completely thorn less stems, with the plants tolerance of poorer soils & even thriving out of full sun, you can't go far wrong with this Rose.
Most roses will not cope with a North wall, but Zephirine Drouhin will be fine in such a position, even if it is devoid of morning sunshine. The thornless stems grow to approximately 4 metres (12ft) lending it to all manor of positions; perhaps try around a doorway or over an arch? Maybe you have an unsightly wall or fence you'd like to cover, or simply need to dress a smart trelllis, obilisk or pergola as a feature in the garden.
Zephirine Drouhin Roses will add a romantic look to overwise drab areas, and will command plenty of attention when in bloom for both the colour and fragrance.
