A vigorous deciduous climber, Aristolochia macrophylla is a reliable and unique plant to brighten up your garden. This compact vine has broad, light green heart-shaped leaves that appear in spring and remain all the way through to autumn. However, the most eye-catching feature is the striking, 3-4cm long greenish-brown solitary flowers, which give it the common name the ‘Dutchman’s pipe’. They do not have petals and instead are composed of a dropping s shaped tube. It looks amazing planted along a trellis or wall giving your garden an exotic feel during summer and providing a gorgeous screen to contrast with other plants.
This climber is easily able to thrive in full sun or partial shade and can grow in any soil type as long as it is well drained. Make sure to shelter it from cold winds.
Supplied in an approx. 5.5 litre container at a height of around 160- 180cm.
