Kadsura japonica - Kadsura Vine

This versatile evergreen climber is the one of the most reliable and popular vines available, providing you with year-round interest and unique fruits. Commonly referred to as the Kadsura vine, this plant is native to Japan and brings with it a tropical aesthetic. An evergreen, its deep green leaves turn slightly red in autumn and are variegated, irregularly edged with white. It bears small white flowers from mid-summer in autumn which then develop into these stunning scarlet fruits. Its fruits can be eaten raw or cooked and are described to have a mild but delightfully floral flavour. With a maximum height and spread of 4m it is perfect to grow up a large wall or fence and looks amazing at the back of a border.

Make sure to plant your Kadsura vine in full sun or partial shade and in moist but well-drained soil. Make sure to place in a sheltered area by a warm wall as it can be damaged by cold winters or early frosts.
