The Blue or Boston flag Iris is another member of this genus that looks and loves growing on the sides of a pond or banks of a stream.
The sword like leaves look architectural in appearance and are very striking when mirrored by the water if planted pond side. In mid to late summer stunning bluey purple flowers, are born on long stems, white flecked throats decorate their petal bases making it easy to see why Irises are so revered by both gardeners and designers.
This Iris loves a sunny spot and is happiest with roots that are sat in wet conditions.
