Iris setosa

Iris setosa, also referred to as Beachhead Iris or Arctic Iris, is a lovely perennial that gives gardens a hint of untamed beauty. Blooming from late spring to early summer, this hardy iris has striking deep violet-blue flowers with detailed white and yellow markings. Slender, arching green leaves create a lovely clump, which is why it's a great option for moist areas, borders, and wildflower gardens.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in well-drained, fertile soil. Because iris setosa grows best in damp environments, it's perfect for planting next to ponds, streams, or in bog gardens. In particular during dry spells, water the soil frequently to maintain a constant moisture content. In order to promote ongoing flowering and preserve a neat appearance, remove spent blooms.
