Iris kaempferi Variegata - Japanese Water Iris

Known by most as the Japanese Water Iris, Iris kaempferi 'Variegata' is a striking perennial prized for its exquisite flowers and gorgeous variegated foliage. The striking green and creamy white stripes on the sword-like leaves add year-round interest. Large, exquisite blooms in shades of purple, blue, or white are produced by this iris in early to midsummer, adding elegance and colour to moist areas and water gardens.

Plant in full sun to partial shade in rich, moist soil. This is the perfect iris to plant next to ponds, streams, or in bog gardens because it grows well in consistently damp conditions. To keep the soil moist, especially during dry spells, water the soil frequently. To keep the plant neat, remove spent blooms after it has flowered. To keep clumps vigorous and encourage healthy growth, divide them every few years.
