Strelitzia

Strelitzia produce large, blue-green leaves that are similar to that of a banana plant, and can produce striking flowers that look like birds of paradise. It is native to South Africa, where it grows in habitats ranging from riverbanks to open glades. Also known as bird of paradise flower or crane flower, these beautiful plants are sue to add a touch of the tropics to your room. The prefer a spot with bright and indirect light, they can cope with some direct sun in the morning or evening. It likes to have moist but well-drained soil, and needs regular watering in spring and summer, but less in autumn and winter. It also benefits from occasional misting or placing on a tray of pebbles and water to increase humidity.
