Alcea 'Chater's Chestnut Brown' is a gorgeous tall, biennial hollyhock that produces spectacular double, ruffled flowers in rich chestnut-brown with bronze and crimson undertones. These stunning spires, which flower from mid to late summer, provide an air of old-fashioned grandeur to cottage gardens while also adding height and drama to borders. It attracts bees and butterflies and is ideal for wildlife-friendly areas.

Where to plant: Full light and well-drained soil are perfect for cottage gardens, borders, and support against walls or fences.

 

Stake taller stems in windy locations. Deadhead wasted blooms to prolong blooming and trim after blossoming. Can self-seed for naturalised displays year after year.
