Acer palmatum Red Emperor - Japanese Maple - LARGE circa 120cm

Product ref: SP21517

Availability: Out of stock

This Acer is the perfect plant to give your garden summer and autumn colour! The main attraction of ‘Red Emperor’ is its stunning intricate red leaves which open up a deep rep-purple and gradually turn a blazing crimson in the autumn.

‘Red Emperor’ is great for an exposed garden as its leaves appear later than other cultivars and so have a reduced risk of frost damage from an unexpected late spring frost. It has deep red sculptural stems which give your winter garden colour and structure after its foliage has dropped for winter. We recommend using this as a container plant on a patio or terrace to allow it to fully catch the eye, although it is equally striking and at home as a small tree the garden or a border.

This is a versatile plant that thrives in full sun but can grow in partial shade. It can establish in any soil type as long as it is moist but well-drained and should be sheltered from cold winds for best results, so avoid an exposed position.

Supplied in approx. 10 litre containers.
