Taxus baccata 'Semperaurea' - Gold Irish Yew
Availability: In stock
This Yew shrub plant is a magnificent conifer that can fulfill a number of roles in a variety of garden styles.
Dense and bushy with evergreen bright gold new growth in spring that slowly softens to a rich yellow through summer.
Taxus baccata 'Semperaurea looks good year round, the golden yellow needles tinge orange through the winter months. It is a slow growing plant that if given space can reach up to three metres height and spread but it is incredibly versatile and can be clipped to make a superb hedging subject. It also makes for a superb solitary specimen plant and its golden yellow foliage looks incredible when planted in a lawn area.
The Yew is also a tough character growing in all soils and in any aspect, it is also pollution tolerant making a good urban plant. If that's not enough then it will also grow away happily in either full shade or sunshine, although you'll want to plant in the brightest conditions for the best colouration.
It's a great plant for the small bird life that visits the garden and, they will happily nest in its frame, if clipping to a shape make sure it is done in early summer after all fledglings have flown the nest.
Supplied in approx 2-3 litre containers.
