Fuchsia microphylla 'David' is one of the most rewarding hardy fuchsias to grow - free-flowering, with an upright, bushy habit, when it is in full flower the whole bush flushes with magenta making a truly spectacular show in your garden.
When grown in pots, a pair make a striking statement either side of doorways and entrances, bringing classic English Cottage Garden charm or contemporary flair depending on your garden - they combined well with virtually all other plants.
Hardy down to -5°C 'David' can be grown in the garden or in a patio planter during the summer. Normally grown as a small shrub and reaching a height of around 90cm in a year, if grown with protection it can be trained similar to a climber such as pyrocantha and excels when grown against a south facing wall. In mild areas of the country it exisits as 6-8ft tall hedges, especially in in South West Coastal districts that avoid the freezing winters of the north.
