Squash 'Galeux d'Eysines'
Availability: Out of stock
The 'Galeux d'Eysines' variety of French Heirloom Squash is a singular and striking variety characterised by its large, salmon-pink fruits covered in characteristic warty bumps. As the squash ages and its sugar content rises, these lumps, called "galeux," give it its name. The moist, sweet flesh of this heirloom squash is ideal for roasting, baking, and soups. It also creates a striking accent piece for fall décor.
Plant in rich, well-drained soil that receives full sun. Give plants plenty of room to grow vigorously. Water regularly to maintain an even moisture level in the soil, and mulch to keep moisture in and prevent weed growth. Harvest the squash in late autumn, once the skin has hardened and it has reached its full colour. Before storing, let it cure for a week in a warm, dry location.Â
