Fargesia murieliae - Umbrella Bamboo - circa 130-150cms
Availability: In stock
Fargesia murieliae, also known as Umbrella Bamboo, is an elegant and versatile bamboo ideal for a wide range of garden settings. Its naturally clump-forming, non-invasive habit makes it perfect for creating soft, evergreen screening or privacy hedging without the worry of spreading. With its slender, arching canes and dense canopy of fine, bright green leaves, it adds a lush, graceful feel to borders, courtyards, or Japanese- and tropical-style gardens. It’s equally well-suited to growing in large pots on patios or balconies, where it offers movement, year-round structure, and gentle rustling that adds atmosphere to outdoor spaces. Use it as a backdrop to flowering perennials, a standalone specimen for architectural interest, or to soften walls and fences.
Thriving in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, Fargesia murieliae is hardy, low-maintenance, and wind-tolerant. Water regularly during dry spells and apply mulch in spring to retain moisture. Prune out old or damaged canes in spring to encourage fresh growth. Pair with shade-loving plants like Hostas, Ferns, or Hydrangeas for a serene, layered garden design.
Supplied in approx 10 litre containers at 130-150cm tall.
