Availability: Out of stock

Known by most as Joe Pye Weed, Eupatorium maculatum 'Atropurpureum' is a tall, eye-catching perennial that lends a stately presence to any garden. It blooms from late summer to early autumn, with large clusters of deep mauve-pink flowers atop sturdy, wine-red stems. Its lance-shaped, dark green foliage creates a striking contrast with the vivid flowers.

Plant Eupatorium maculatum 'Atropurpureum' in full sun to partial shade on moist, well-drained soil. Because of its ability to flourish in rich, continuously moist soil, it is perfect for borders next to water features or rain gardens. Watering on a regular basis is crucial, particularly in the dry seasons. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong their bloom and keep them looking neat. This perennial creates a gorgeous display of fall colour when combined with other late-season bloomers like sedums and asters.
