Euonymous Alatus - Burning Spindle Bush Euonymus - XXXL 150cm Heavy Specimen
Availability: In stock
Euonymus alatus, commonly known as the Burning Spindle Bush or Winged Spindle, is a deciduous shrub that makes a bold statement with its spectacular autumn colour. During the growing season, it features dense, dark green foliage on distinctive corky, winged branches. In autumn, the leaves transform into a blazing, fiery red, earning it the name "Burning Bush." Small, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers in spring are followed by reddish-purple berries that add further interest and attract birds.
This hardy and adaptable shrub thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and full sun to partial shade. Pruning is rarely needed, but light trimming after leaf fall will help maintain a neat shape. Perfect as a specimen shrub, in mixed borders, or as a colourful hedge. Pair with contrasting evergreens like Boxwood or late-blooming perennials like Aster for a dynamic, multi-season garden display.
Ultimate height 2m. Supplied in an approx. 20 litre containers, large bushy plants around 150cm tall.
