The beautiful Dianthus 'Moulin Rouge' is a fantastic variation of the traditional carnation, renowned for its vibrant, colourful flowers that have a rich, spicy scent. Also known as Clove Scented Cottage Garden Pinks, these dianthus are compact growing forming mounds of attractive blue-green foliage. A hardy perennial, this foliage provides a luxuriant backdrop for the vivid, double blooms. 'Moulin Rouge' is a late spring to early summer flowering plant it looks great in rockeries, at the front of garden beds and borders or as an eye-catching container plant.
Plant 'Moulin Rouge' in full sun on well-drained soil for optimal growth. It does well with minimal irrigation, and deadheading helps to prolong the blooming season stimulating the growth of additional flowers. This Dianthus looks great when combined with other perennials that like the sun, such as Salvias and Lavender.
