Daphne mezereum 'Rubra' will add charm and aroma to your garden in the early season. In late winter to early spring, clusters of deep pink to crimson blossoms from this beautiful deciduous shrub fill the air with a wonderful, alluring smell. During the colder months, the magnificent show created by the blossoms that sprout straight from the bare stems brings year-round interest to your garden. As spring progresses, your garden will be adorned with new greens as the graceful, lance-shaped leaves emerge after the blossoms. In addition, the blooms are followed in the summer by bright red berries, which bring wildlife to your garden and gives them something to eat. 

Daphne mezereum 'Rubra' prefers a spot in partial shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil. It’s ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a feature plant in smaller gardens. While this shrub is low maintenance, it’s best left undisturbed once planted, as it doesn’t enjoy being moved.
