Dahlia Creme de Cassis

Product ref: BR26516

Availability: Out of stock

Dahlia 'Crème de Cassis' is a beautiful cultivar prized for its unusual and eye-catching blooms. With petals that change from a creamy white at the base to a rich, berry purple at the tips, the blooms have a stunning colour combination. Each flower also appears layered due to the striking colour contrast, which is evocative of a cool summer cocktail.

The petals subtle curvature and twist give the bloom's overall appearance more depth and character.

'Crème de Cassis' is a great choice for garden borders, as a focal point in flower arrangements, or in containers where its striking blossoms may be observed up close. It stands about 90–120cm tall and grows best in full sun, which also ensures the petals colour remains vibrant.

Supplied as a bare root bulb ready to bloom.

Supplied as tubers, the best time to plant is in April and May. To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cms of compost, or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cms. You will need a stout stake, not just a bamboo cane, to support each plant and it is a good idea to knock this in first and then place the plant by its side. It will need to be lifted in winter - once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
