The attractive cultivar dahlia 'Café au Lait Twist' is renowned for its distinctive and fashionable blooms. Large, creamy flowers with touches of peach and pink are produced by this cultivar, which is well-liked by floral designers and gardeners for its delicate yet eye-catching colour scheme. The petals' dynamic texture and curve at the edges give the flower's overall appearance more depth and movement.
'Café au Lait Twist' grows to a height of approximately 90–120cm, making it ideal for use as a focal point in a cutting garden as well as in borders and decorative pots. Dahlias need well-drained, nutritious soil to grow, and they like full sun, which intensifies the colour of their blooms.
Supplied as tubers, the best time to plant is in April and May. To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cms of compost, or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cms. You will need a stout stake, not just a bamboo cane, to support each plant and it is a good idea to knock this in first and then place the plant by its side. It will need to be lifted in winter - once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
