Dahlia - Ball Dahlia Amber Crystal

The gorgeous cultivar dahlia 'Ball Amber Crystal' is prized for its distinctive and striking blooms. Perfectly spherical flowers with tightly packed petals in a light amber colour with touches of peach and pink characterise this type. 'Amber Crystal' dahlias are widely valued for their symmetry and thick, geometric structure, which makes them a striking addition to any floral arrangement.

Blossoming to a height of approximately 90–120 cm, 'Ball Amber Crystal' can be used as a striking focal point in a cutting garden, where its flowers can also be enjoyed indoors, or as part of a border planting. Dahlias give their most colourful and abundant blooms from mid-summer until the first frost in full sun and well-drained, nutritious soil.
Supplied as tubers, the best time to plant is in April and May. To plant them, dig a hole at least 20-30cm square and around 20-30cm deep for each one. Cover the base of the hole with 10cms of compost, or manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia at a depth of 15-20cms. You will need a stout stake, not just a bamboo cane, to support each plant and it is a good idea to knock this in first and then place the plant by its side. It will need to be lifted in winter - once the foliage dies back simply dig it up and store in a cool, frost free location.
