Cornus alba 'Aurea' - Red Stemmed Dogwood

A stunning dogwood, this is the perfect shrub to give you year round colour and architectural interest. ‘Aurea’ sets itself apart from other dogwoods with its vibrant golden-yellow leaves which appear in spring and only intensify in their colour as the seasons pass, culminating in an eye-catching autumn display of gold and red leaves before they fall in winter. The amazing red stems are revealed after the foliage falls and provides your garden with much needed brightness during the quieter months. This shrub also gives your Summer interest as small-creamy white flowers bloom in May and June. ‘Aurea’ works especially well when used to line the edge of a border or path giving you a hit of colour but are also well suited to planting within a mixed bed. 

This Cornus works best in full sun where its stem and leaf colour can shine, but it will also thrive in partial shade. It prefers moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil and is hardy so can establish in exposed or sheltered gardens.
