Clematis montana 'Primrose Star'

A more vigorous and fast growing Clematis than some varieties although it still makes for a compact plant. If in happy conditions, it is the perfect Clematis for covering a fence or side of a garage. However, that is not its only talent and in late spring to early summer it will become covered in double pale lemon coloured flowers that contrast well with the rich green foliage.

It is deciduous by nature so you can also expect a degree of autumn colour.

On average this climber will reach a couple of metres in height and up to four metres in length , it is tolerant of a range of soils but will dislike water-logging. It is recommended to add some well-rotted compost around its base mixed with a few pellets of slow release fertiliser, it requires very little pruning but cut out any dead material.

Plant as a backdrop to a mixed herbaceous border or to cover a hard surface like a wall or fence.
