Cirsium Atropurpureum

Product ref: P26096

Availability: In stock

Plume Thistle, also known as Cirsium atropurpureum, is a visually arresting perennial that gives gardens a hint of untamed beauty. Large, deep crimson-purple flower heads atop tall, sturdy stems characterise this thistle, which blooms from midsummer to early autumn. It stands out in borders, wildflower gardens, and naturalistic plantings because of its spiky, dark green foliage, which offers a pleasing contrast to the vivid flowers.

For best growth and blooming, plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Numerous soil types, including rocky and poor soils, are favourable for plume thistle growth. During the growing season, water frequently, especially during dry spells, but do not let the soil become too wet. Deadhead spent flowers to stop self-seeding and promote ongoing blooming.

Supplied in approx. 2-3 litre containers.
