Planteria/Nursery Manager

A desirable position for a planteria/nursery manager has become available in our dynamic company, which will offer you the potential to grow with us, and make the position your own, experience is therefore preferred.

Under the guidance of senior management and with full autonomy once trained in our procedures, as part of our wider team, your key duties will include:

  • Stock Control - Booking in, labelling and setting out stock within the nursery. Producing stock reports for our buyers.
  • Production - Management of production of a diverse range of crops including Trees, shrubs, herbaceous and roses. Involving the use of semi-automated potting machinery.
  • Maintenance - Ensuring the nursery is maintained, organised and kept in an immaculately clean condition, and of course the plants themselves.
  • Irrigation - Ensuring stock is watered appropriately and irrigation systems (drip and overhead) are appropriately maintained.
  • Identification - Of pest/disease/weed issues should they arise, consulting with management and taking appropriate action to remedy.
  • Flexibility - As part of the wider team, you will be expected to have full flexibility where required to assist with the pick/pack/dispatch aspect of the business. It is also expected that over time you will generate ideas and assist in the development of ever better methods of working.

The hours associated with this position will vary with the seasons from around 25-30hrs a week off season, up to around 50-60hrs a week peak season, and include some weekends. We provide 24 days paid holiday, and a competitive salary. This position requires working outside in all weathers, and is based at our Chelmsford nursery in the heart of the Essex countryside.

Pick, Pack & Dispatch Operatives

As part of our existing wider team, in a process lead working environment you will work under the Picking, Packing & Dispatch managers to complete a number of varied tasks dependent on where we feel you are best suited. Tasks include selection of stock for orders, order checking and labelling, preparation of plants for packing, packing of orders, and arranging onward dispatch. Knowledge of plants is not essential, however an enthusiasm and willingness to learn is. High standards and quality in all processes is essential, and is continually checked right through to our customer receiving their order, and more importantly, being absolutely delighted with their purchase. Nursery Assistants

As part of our existing wider team, in a process lead working environment you will work under the Nursery manager to complete a number of varied tasks dependent on where we feel you are best suited. Tasks include the potting on and setting out of stock; keeping the nursery clean, tidy and weed free; irrigation of plants; feeding and pruning of stock as required; labelling and stock taking; picking and preparation of bulk orders; loading orders for onward transport. Knowledge of plants is not essential, however an enthusiasm and willingness to learn is. High standards and quality in all processes is essential, and is continually checked right through to our customer receiving their order, and more importantly, being absolutely delighted with their purchase.
