Calycanthus Hartlage Wine - Carolina allspice

Product ref: S24706

Availability: In stock

Calycanthus 'Hartlage Wine' is a striking deciduous shrub known for its large, wine-red, magnolia-like flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. The blooms have a subtle, pleasant fragrance and stand out beautifully against the glossy, dark green foliage. This hybrid sweetshrub was developed for its impressive floral display and long blooming period, making it an excellent choice for borders, woodland gardens, or as a feature shrub.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. This hardy and low-maintenance shrub can reach a height of 2.5-3m, forming a rounded, bushy shape. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain its shape and remove any dead or crossing branches. Hartlage Wine is also fairly drought-tolerant once established, making it a resilient addition to any garden. Combine with Hydrangea arborescens or Philadelphus for a layered, fragrant, and colourful summer garden display.

Supplied in approx. 1 litre containers.
