Callicarpa kwangtungensis - Beautyberry Bush

The perfect species of Beauty bush, Callicarpa kwangtungensis not only gives you the characteristic autumn berries but also gives you seasonal foliage and beautiful red stems. Clusters of pale pink-white flowers bloom in July covering your shrub in colour and contrasting amazingly against the purple sepals. These are followed in autumn by the vibrant purple berries, displaying unique and eye-catching colour. Callicarpa kwangtungensis foliage appears a lovely mid green tinged with purple in spring and as the temperature drops in autumn they turn wonderful shades of pink and orange. We recommend planting this shrub in a mixed border but it works equally well when planted on mass to create an informal hedge along any borders or paths. 

Callicarpa kwangtungensis grows best in well drained soil and is hardy so can thrive in exposed or sheltered gardens. It thrives in full sun, with autumn foliage and berries looking best in the light, but also does well in partial shade.
