Availability: Out of stock

Commonly known as Japanese Barberry, this small shrub is great for all year-round interest in developing attractive foliage, flowers, and berries. The stems have an upright habit growing curved upwards with a compact structure and nice shape. Its delicate leaves emerge a dark-red purple and turn a vibrant shade of red in the autumn before falling. The pale-yellow flowers bloom in clusters during mid-spring attracting bees and contrasting amazingly against the bright foliage. They then develop into glossy red berries which are much loved by birds. This stunning shrub works perfectly in border planting and can be used to edge borders as it responds well to pruning.

A hardy shrub Berberis thunbergii thrives in exposed or sheltered gardens and can grow in any soil type as long as it is moist but well-drained. It should be placed in full sun or partial shade to achieve the best colour and growth.

Supplied in approx. 2 litre containers.
