A pollinator-friendly shrub with deep blue bonnets of blooms on long slender stems that produce a delicate display from early to mid summer. A perennial variety suitable for creating an appealing cottage garden, rockery displays, spectacular borders, and stunning cut flowers.
For optimal results, sow indoors in a seed tray of high-quality compost from February to June. Sow seeds evenly, about 0.5cm thick, moisten well, and place in a cold frame, unheated greenhouse, or windowsill. Continue to water until seedlings emerge; germination can take 3 to 6 weeks. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, split them into 7.5cm pots and let them acclimatise to the outside. Plants can be replanted where they will flower between June and October, with a 30-cm spacing. Alternatively, from April to June, sow seeds directly outdoors, thinning them as they grow. These perennial blooms will bloom from May to July the next year, and every year thereafter.
