Azalea mollis Satan - Knaphill Rhododendron

Product ref: S21392

Availability: In stock

Some plants at certain times of the year really do take your breath away and this multi-award-winning Azalea is one of those plants. This medium sized shrub swells with crimson buds in mid to late spring before the whole plant becomes covered in funnel shaped bright orange flowers. This is a springtime plant that is impossible to ignore. The flowers give way to a neat mid green foliaged shrub that can reach roughly one and a half metres in height. Like all Rhododendrons, ‘Gibraltar’ needs to be grown in acidic soil conditions and likes a rich free draining soil, if these conditions are not available it is well worth trying this plant in a container using an Ericaceous compost. This is the perfect shrub for a woodland border or in a raised bed of a courtyard, give it a woodchip mulch each spring and some irrigation in spells of prolonged dryness would be beneficial.

Supplied in approx. 5 litre containers.
