Aster Azurit

Aster 'Azurit' is a compact, bushy, clump-forming herbaceous perennial that can grow up to 30 cm tall while in bloom. From late summer to autumn, it displays wide sprays of brilliant purple to purplish-blue, daisy-like blooms with lively yellow centres, adding a splash of colour to the garden. The slender, elliptic dark green leaves make a lovely background for the vibrant blossoms. 

Grows on fairly fertile, wet but well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Ideal for borders, rockeries, and pots, and its modest stature makes it appropriate for smaller gardens or as ground cover. 'Azurit' is also an excellent plant for wildlife gardens, attracting bees and other pollinators. Water regularly to keep the soil wet, especially during dry spells. Cut the stems near to the ground in late autumn to promote good growth the next season, and consider splitting the plant every third year in the spring to keep it thriving.
