True to its name, Scrumptious is a deliciously sweet and juicy dessert apple, perfect for picking straight from the tree. Its red-flushed fruit has a crisp bite and hints of strawberry, making it a favourite for children and a real treat in the garden. A reliable early-season variety, it ripens from late summer and is best enjoyed fresh. Scrumptious is self-fertile (pollination group 3), so no pollination partner is needed, making it ideal for smaller gardens or even large containers. Prune lightly in winter to maintain shape and encourage fruiting. Combine with Red Windsor or Christmas Pippin for a continuous supply of flavour-packed apples throughout the season.
Supplied as strong bare root trees grafted on a MM106 rootstock, this produces a tree of moderate vigour suitable for most situations where fruit is of a nice pickable height. Trees are easily maintained at a manageable size and never reach more than around 12ft tall.
